On July 9th Toms River Mayor Kelaher, Councilmen Maurice B Hill “MO” Hill, Maria Marucca , George Wittmann, and Brian Kubiel unanimously approved a resolution denouncing the upcoming Flood Insurance Premium Increases.

.

“Toms River lost $2.4 Billion dollars in Ratables after Superstorm Sandy. We are just starting to get back on our feet after Superstorm Sandy. We Fear Flood Insurance premium increases will devalue properties and our ratables will drop drastically again. All because of a man made disaster, the rise in premiums.” – Councilman Maurice ‘MO’ Hill (MO Hill is also a retired Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy)

.

“FEMA has not finalized the Flood Maps despite a court order over 3 years ago. They are basing the premiums on their inaccurate maps.” – Councilman Maurice ‘MO’ Hill

.

They now join Mayor Carmen Amato and Berkeley, NJ passing resolutions against the current NFIP legislation.

.

All residents living in a flood zone are encouraged to contact their Senators and congressmen and let them know that up to 18% – 25% Compounded Yearly Increases are Unaffordable.
